Groups (Basics)

www.CAD6.com

Use the Modify > Group > Create Group command to unite multiple objects into one group. This command creates a group from all chosen objects which will further on be handled as one single entity. Groups can also be part of another group or of blocks.

If individual objects within a group shall be edited later on, you can either choose them while keeping the ALT key pressed, or you can resolve the group into its individual objects. Points of objects within groups can be chosen and modified directly.

Groups can contain attributes. An attribute can be a text or a number. For example, if you have a group containing a sign, you can use the Modify > Edit > Text / Attributes command to assign an attribute "Message" to that group and reference that attribute in a text object in that group, displaying the individual message. After copying the group, edit the new group's attributes to have the sign display a different message.

For information on attribute display, see Attributes.
